A heroin addiction nearly sidelined his career after his critically-acclaimed debut Guitar Town in 1986, but Earle was able to turn his life around, allowing him to emulate and surpass the careers of his heroes Hank Williams and Townes Van Zandt. His latest album, I’ll Never Get Out Of This World Alive, ranks among his best.
